Lighting industry icon recognised by peers

 Leading icon in the Australian lighting industry, Mr Ian Robinson, Executive Chairman of Beacon Lighting has been recognised with the Dialight Lifetime Achievement Award, at the inaugural National Awards for Excellence in Lighting in Sydney. The Award was sponsored by Dialight ILS Australia.

More than 300 individuals representing every aspect of Australia's lighting industry came together at Doltone House Hyde Park on May 28 for the gala event.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises an individual who has played a leading role in the development of Australia's lighting industry.

"With 50 years-experience in the lighting industry, spanning manufacturing and retailing operations, Ian Robinson has been recognised as an innovator and one of Australia's great success stories in business,' said CEO of Lighting Council Australia Richard Mulcahy.

The prestigious award is being bestowed for the first time, at this inaugural event.

Ian Robinson is not only Executive Chairman of one of Australia's leading lighting companies, but also serves on the Board of Lighting Council Australia. With more than 100 retail outlets, Beacon Lighting has been recognised as an industry leader in innovation, marketing, manufacturing and retailing.

The Australian lighting industry also made awards to 11 leading figures at the National Awards for Excellence in Lighting

CEO of Lighting Council Australia Richard Mulcahy said that sixty individuals have been nominated for the coveted awards, at what is set to become an annual event.

"More than 300 people made the effort to be part of this event and we congratulate each of those that was identified as a leader deserving of special recognition."

Australia's lighting industry generates sales in excess of $2 billion annually and employs around 3500 people.
