Thai Foundry Association (TFA) networks in Fukuoka

From 17-20th February 2014 a group of 35 Thai Foundry Association members took part in an industrial study tour of the metals industry in Fukuoka Prefecture which is located on Kyushu Island in the south of Japan. The Fukoka region has a number of industries including steel and automotive, and is one of the main industrial centres in Japan.

The visit was arranged by the Bangkok section of the Fukuoka Industry Promotion Office as part of the "Business Networking Program for CEOs of Asia SMEs". The Fukuoka office is sited at the Thailand Bureau for Supporting Industries Development (BSID) complex in Bangkok together with the TFA and the Iron & Steel Institute of Thailand (ISIT). The works visits included Fukuoka Aluminium Industry (secondary Al ingot producers), Kyushu Iron Pipe (ductile iron pipes and fittings for the water industry), Tanaka-Shin Tekkosho (steel forgings including railway parts), Kokura Tetsudo (gears for transmission and steering), and Hitachi Metals Wakamatsu (steel roll producers and steel rolling).

The TFA also visited the Chokuan Industry Promotion Office (ADOX), which has special emphasis on promoting metal industries in Fukuoka, to discuss networking and business links, and also to attend technical presentations by the Kyushu Institute of Technology.
