The Australian Master Patternmakers Association welcomes two life members

02 Sep 2014

The Australian Master Patternmakers Association founded in 1965 remains a strong active association of patternmaking craftsmen business owners.

Two new life members have been welcomed in to the Association's NSW Division.

Bruce Phipps - Phipps Patternmaking Sydney. Bruce, now retired, continued the patternmaking business founded by his father Harry. He was a foundation member of the patternmakers association and a past President. The business is currently run by the 3rd generation, Bruce's son Peter Phipps with modern computerised multi axis CNC equipment.

Ron Wearne, now retired, another foundation member of AMPA NSW, was awarded life membership for service to the industry. Ron was foreman of a large foundry pattern shop with over twenty patternmakers and apprentices before starting Wearne patterns many years ago. Ron was a firm believer in apprentice training and probably trained more apprentices in his pattern shop than other owner operated businesses.
